Counting the Omer

$6.95

Includes Wet Marker

We have commissioned a painting of God’s incredible golden menorah as a tool to aid in the omer (oh-mare) count which we are told to do in Leviticus 23:15, 16. This educational tool gives a clear visual of the seven sets of seven days as a reminder that God has told us to count (such anticipation!) the 49 days from the festival of Firstfruits to the festival of Shavuot (Pentecost).

What’s so important about Shavuot? Shavuot is the 4th festival and occupies center-place when Yah’s seven festivals are overlaid on a menorah. It obviously holds a special place in His heart, too – and no wonder! Shavuot, “Weeks” in Hebrew/"Pentecost" in Greek (Pente = 50), is revered for these 3 things:

  1. The giving of the Law on Mt. Sinai (“more precious than silver and gold” Psalm 119:72).

  2. The giving of the promised Holy Spirit to His followers in Jerusalem (Acts 2:1-4).

  3. The wheat harvest is the most-prized harvest and will one day be God’s most-prized harvest (rapture) of the Bride by “He who was seated on the cloud” (Revelation 14:16).

We’ve provided a wet marker so this beautiful laminated 8 1/2” x 11” menorah can be wiped clean and used every year for the count. It’s the perfect size for posting on a refrigerator or a wall and for storing for future Omer counts. Information about the significance of counting the omer and how to involve your children in the count are given on the back of the painting.

Counting the omer is God’s reminder of what’s most important to Him. How could it be any less important to us?
